Ģertrūdes ielas teātris

It’s a long way, baby.

Am l an independent, free-thinking person with a clear vision and statement – or just another brick in the wall? Is somebody else is creating my life, talking instead of me, directing how l should live? Who or what is that figure, the final and ultimate subject? Where is humanity, compassion, understanding? Rules, stereotypes, society, family, friends or me, myself and I? Is there a future?

Life of a dancer is like a Turkish coffee; it’s tasty and it has a sediment. No matter what – you always have to face the question: Who am I? Where I am from? Where I’m going? It’s a long way. Since we were born we are constantly bombed with social and cultural patterns that create our SELF. Twelve dancers, twelve individuals are facing social questions through physical action; confrontation that brings decision, avoidance, seduction, harmony, chaos, fear and hope. It’s a long way, baby.

Let’s find it out.
