Ģertrūdes iela 101aThey have no boundaries. They are all around us and within us. As someone reads these words, they continue to grow and change their forms, just as they have done for more than a billion years.
How can we better understand the planet we live on and the ways in which we think, feel and form relationships with one another?
The contemporary dance performance In the Mycelial Network explores the world of fungi – the essential yet often overlooked networks of organisms that form the foundation of life on Earth. Fungi are unique: they are neither plants nor animals. They form symbiotic relationships, transform and help create new ecosystems.
The creators of the performance invite us to shift from an anthropocentric to a biocentric worldview, encouraging us to reflect on how fungi shape our understanding of the world and how the behaviour of mycelial networks might offer answers to questions about human relationships, cooperation and our place in nature.
